             Mannitol is also known as D-mannitol. This exceptional ingredient offers a delightful sweetness, ranging from 0.55 to 0.65 times the sweetness of sucrose. Applications

(1)Develop foods for people with diabetes. Mannitol's primary metabolic process in the human body is independent. Consequently, its consumption does not lead to significant blood glucose fluctuations, thus offering a safe alternative for diabetic individuals.

 

(2)For anti-caries sweets. Mannitol is not metabolized by oral microorganisms, effectively inhibiting the growth and proliferation of Streptococcus mutans. This property enables its use in crafting anti-caries confectioneries. The U.S. FDA has approved the use of a "No dental caries" label on sugar-free products utilizing polyols such as mannitol.

 

(3)Develop mannitol chewing gum. With an invigorating sweetness akin to 0.6 of sucrose, mannitol's unique dissolution endothermic quality makes it a prime candidate as a sweetener and flavor enhancer in chewing gum production.

 

(4)Used as a moisture barrier. In contrast to sorbitol and xylitol, mannitol's remarkable resistance to moisture absorption, coupled with a solubility of only 18 g/100 g at 20°C, positions it as an optimal moisture barrier. This characteristic is invaluable in preventing adhesion during the production and storage of chewing gums and similar products.
