D-Mannitol

        Mannitol is also celebrated as D-mannitol. This delightful sugar alcohol boasts a sweetness ranging from 0.55 to 0.65 times that of traditional sucrose. Amongst its peers in the realm of functional sugar alcohols, mannitol stands out as the sole hexabasic variant that resists moisture absorption. Its perfectly balanced sweetness, combined with low caloric content and absolute safety, sets it apart. Critically, in human physiological metabolism, it remains uninvolved with blood sugar levels, making it an ideal sweetener for individuals with diabetes and obesity, as it does not contribute to dental caries.

(2)Creation of anti-caries confections. Mannitol is resistant to oral microorganism utilization and actively inhibits Streptococcus mutans, facilitating the production of sweets that combat dental caries. Endorsed by the U.S. FDA, sugar-free products using polyols like mannitol can proudly bear the 'No dental caries' label.

 

(3)Innovating mannitol-based chewing gum. With its cool sweetness equivalent to 0.6 of sucrose and a dissolution endothermic of -29Cal/g (76% of xylitol's -38Cal/g), mannitol serves as an exceptional sweetener and flavor enhancer in chewing gum manufacturing.

 

(4)Serving as a moisture barrier. Mannitol's minimal moisture absorption, with solubility of merely 18 g/100 g at 20°C, far inferior to sorbitol, xylitol, and maltitol, makes it a perfect choice to prevent adhesion during the production and use of chewing gum and similar products.
