          Mannitol is also known as D-mannitol. Renowned for its pleasant sweetness, it offers a sweetness range of approximately 0.55-0.65 times that of sucrose. Amongst functional sugar alcohols, mannitol stands out as the singular hexabasic sugar alcohol that resists moisture absorption. It possesses an ideal sweetness, is low in calories, and is devoid of any toxic side effects. In human physiological metabolism, it neither correlates with nor elevates blood sugar levels. Additionally, it does not contribute to dental caries, making it an excellent sweetener choice for both diabetic and obese individuals.
